What are Aprés Gel-X extensions?
Since 2018, we changed our extension system completely to Aprés Gel-X or Gel-X for short because we realised how simple, efficient and natural it is for your nails. It is completely odourless, 100% gel (which means none of that gimmicky plastic tips you see selling online for really low prices) which means you're able to soak it off compared to traditional hard gel extensions which cannot be soaked off.
1. Natural
According to Treatwell.co.uk, "Apres Gel-X nails are like the lovechild of a gel mani, acrylic extensions and press-on nails. They’re applied over your entire nail bed (not just the tips, like acrylics or hard gel extensions). The extensions are clear – which means they can be used to create trends like seaglass nails – and come in different shapes and lengths."
This means no BULK. With many kinds of traditional extensions, people find themselves getting very bulky-looking nails (although acrylics look so sexy sometimes...) and it just doesn't seem natural for daily wear. Gel-X fixes that issue and soak off in Pennello Nails takes 15-30mins. No more long hours of removing a set of extensions and bad techs ripping off your extensions, leaving your nail beds sore and red. The picture below is an example of how clear Gel-x extensions are and when doing milk bath or encapsulated flower designs, there is zero bulk, the extension looks completely flush and blended in with the cuticle area.

2. Application
"First, your nail is prepped with a primer. The extension is then applied with a layer of clear gel polish, which is cured under an LED lamp to bond it to the natural nail. Once applied, they can be painted just like a normal mani. The whole process takes around an hour and a half." (treatwell.co.uk)
3. How long do they last?
I highly recommend and urge clients to remove or change a set after 3-4 weeks to prevent your extensions from lifting or putting too much pressure on your natural nails due to the growth. When extensions are left on for too long, your nail may bend or break due to an imbalance in structure of the nail. Gel-X lasts 3-4 weeks and has a less noticeable growth compared to acrylics or hard gel extensions because it's more natural.
